St John’s Nursery

Joining Nursery

St John’s Primary School and Children’s Centre has expanded its Nursery provision. Our popular nursery for three and four year olds is now welcoming two year olds as well. Situated in a newly converted building within the grounds of St John’s Primary School, and under the school’s leadership and governance, Little Bears is a welcome addition to the local community.

Little Bears has an exclusive, secure outdoor area, exciting and stimulating new resources, it is the ideal setting for little ones to play and learn. A qualified teacher, supported by experienced and qualified staff will ensure that each child has a great start to their early learning. Experiences will be meaningful and enjoyable, with each new skill learnt and reinforced to provide every child with a solid educational base to build upon.

Little Bears is open for 15 hours each week during term time. It is open all day Monday and Tuesday from 9:00am to 3:00pm and on Wednesdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

Some families are entitled to 15 hours of free early education and childcare a week for two year olds. This is as part of Free Early Education for Two year olds (FEET). More information can be found on the Surrey County Council website or from the school office.

Virtual Tours

Bears Nursery for three and four year olds is open Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. All three and four year olds are entitled to 15 hours free early education. Parents can chose to take their 15 hours  over two and a half days. There is also the option for your child to attend full time.

Both our nurseries are vibrant places for young children to begin to develop their independence and love of learning.
We support you in preparing your child for Nursery and making the transition from Home to nursery smooth, in the following ways:

  • Invitation to an information session about the year ahead
  • Invitation to come with your child to  a “Stay and Play” session
  • Home visits by nursery staff to get to know your child in their own environment
  • Phased entry in small groups to help them settle happily

Each half term you will receive a letter explaining what your child is experiencing in each area of learning. The school issues weekly newsletters and there is also a notice board outside the Nursery for up to date information.

For details on how to join either nursery, please see our Admissions page. For further information, including details of our open days, please email the school at or call 01483 476450
